Constipation

Constipation

Constipation is a common condition that can cause abdominal discomfort, bloating and difficulty in passing stool. It is typically caused by a low-fiber diet, lack of exercise, certain medications or constipation-causing diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome. At CleCare Urgent Care, constipation can be treated with various treatments depending on the severity of the condition.

For mild constipation, your provider may recommend making dietary changes such as increasing fiber intake and drinking plenty of fluids. Additionally, over-the-counter medicines like laxatives may be taken for relief from constipation symptoms. Exercise can also help improve constipation symptoms by stimulating digestion and helping move waste through the colon more quickly.

If these methods do not provide relief, your provider may offer additional treatment options. Enemas may be used to help flush out constipated bowels and colonic irrigation can also help break up fecal impaction (hard stool) so it can pass more easily. Providers may also prescribe medications such as laxatives, antispasmodics or fiber supplements for constipation relief.

CleCare Urgent Care is here to help and provides quick and efficient constipation treatment that is tailored to the individual's needs. With the right treatments and lifestyle changes, constipation can be managed in order to prevent further abdominal discomfort and other symptoms associated with this condition.
